Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not attend the November 28 meeting of the Collective Security Council (CSTO) in Astana. “Freezing” membership in the regional collective security system was the course that the Transcaucasian republic’s leadership stuck to.
It is clear that the PM of Armenia wants out, but why haven’t they taken the steps to escalate these matters?
Nikol Pashinyan has said it clear that they have froze their membership and are looking for a way out, but reports say leaving CSTO will hit them with a hefty fine, which is most likely why they haven’t already left the organization. If not; they are most likely afraid of what Russia can do to them both politically and economically, considering the weapons trades, imports/exports, and the workers that are sent from Armenia to Russia to send back remittance.
